paska (easter bread) - small batch

Easter is nearly upon us, and for my family that means…..paska time! Paska is a slightly sweet, slightly citrus-y bread that is made for Easter, and is often served with icing and sprinkles. Some families make loaves, some make buns, some frost just the tops, and some cut theirs open to frost the open faced sides! There’s no wrong way, truly. Our family loves simply toasting paska and eating it with butter for breakfast. Haha.

halfway homemade cinnamon sugar cruffins (made with puff pastry)

It’s time for another halfway homemade recipe! I teamed up with my dear friend Kristie from The Sweet and Simple Kitchen to bring you another fun, super easy recipe that we think you’ll love. It is always such a different experience for me when I get to bake with a friend and fellow blogger. Food blogging is such a funny, and sometimes isolating thing, so it’s always so fun when you get to bounce ideas off of someone face to face! I’m pretty sure I would have thrown in the towel on these if Kristie hadn’t been there offering encouragement and ideas! Ha!

lemon poppyseed loaf with lemon glaze

Citrus season is still going strong, and nothing beats a classic loaf! They are such a reliable go-to, and perfect to pair with a cozy drink on a cold winter day. Lemon is such a bright, zippy flavour, and is always such a joy to use in the kitchen. I will say, that if you don’t own a zester….invest in one! It’s one of those kitchen gadgets that - yes it only has one use - but it is sooooo difficult to make citrus-y things without it! I’ve tried using a peeler and a sharp knife to get the same result….haha. Nope. Just doesn’t work!

classic chocolate chip cookies

Honestly there’s nothing better than a classic chocolate chip cookie! This is one of my most made recipes, and there’s usually a few kicking around in my freezer at all times. They are so easy to whip up, and I love keeping some unbaked and frozen, so that I can have a freshly baked cookie whenever I want! These cookies have crispy outsides, chewy insides, and taste like my childhood.

chocolate peanut butter tart (healthier!)

Chocolate + Peanut Butter = a match made in heaven!

I love chocolate. And I love peanut butter. And I love them even more when they’re together! I was inspired by Kristan from - A Broken Bread - when I saw her peanut butter tart! I’ve often made a peanut butter pie which is quite thick, and had never thought about making it a bit smaller! It’s such a rich, decadent dessert, so the tart is such a perfect fit for it.
