So apparently the Fraser Valley forgot that it usually rains nonstop until mid-June.....and we've basically had Summer since April.  It's been nuts.  So so hot!  From a farmer's perspective, it's been both good and bad.  Everything's been growing like crazy, but it's meant a lot of crops have been ready several weeks early.....and of course we've had to water everything like mad to try and keep up with the heat!

diablo cookies (with cayenne pepper!)

Yes you read the title correctly....there's cayenne pepper in these cookies!  It's kind of the best.  And definitely not as strange as it sounds.  You'll love it, I promise!

It's not an obnoxious or overpowering spiciness at all, and is more of a subtle little kick!  And it complements the rich chocolate flavor of this cookie so well.  Jordyn saw Diablo Cookies popping up around the internet for quite a while now, and finally decided to give them a go!  She tweaked her to-die-for triple chocolate cookie recipe into this masterpiece, and the results are pretty spectacular.

lemon doughnuts with raspberry glaze

I love love anything lemon!  It pairs incredibly well with so many different foods, and it's such a lovely flavor for Summer.

A few weeks ago I decided to experiment with lemon doughnuts, and knew that a raspberry glaze would be so delicious with them.  The raspberry glaze gets bonus points as well since the colour of it is so darn pretty.  No food colouring needed people!

rhubarb crisp // with le creuset

It's April, which means.....RHUBARB SEASON!  Yay!!

Our family loves rhubarb, and we're lucky enough to grow fields and fields of it...so we can bake with it whenever we want!  Once picked, the stalks don't last too long, unfortunately, so it's best picked fresh....or you can always chop a bunch up and store it in your fridge for a few days, or your freezer.

It's been something I've been wanting to do for such a long time, but have been way to chicken to try it. Ha!  I made them a few years ago with a mix that my friend Clara and I bought, and we had no idea what we were doing!  They actually turned out semi-decent, but I knew I wanted to make them properly, from scratch.
